Welcome to the AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) lab at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign!

Led by Dr. Brittlebank, the AAC Lab aims to improve language and literacy outcomes for people with disabilities and limited speech (e.g., cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism spectrum, multiple disabilities) to support functional communication. The focus of the AAC lab is to develop, implement, and evaluate AAC technologies and strategies to improve outcomes for people with limited speech.

The journal of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)recently published an historic special issue where every paper is authored or co-authored by someone who uses AAC! Please check it out to hear more about the future of AAC from people who use or benefit from AAC themselves! This issue is open-access and free.
